You have heard our stories and we have heard you. Coming this March, a new remarkable woman and a new platform. We have transitioned the Remarkable Women, Powerful Stories series to Zoom to enable for our audience to interact and chat with one another during the sessions. The story does not end here, but continues with each of you, bringing your own ideas to the series and back to your communities. Together, we are remarkable.

Meet our guest: Kendra Sharp

Dr. Kendra Sharp is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU), currently on loan to the U.S. National Science Foundation where she has been serving as the Head of the Office of International Science and Engineering since February 2021. Previously, at OSU, she served as Senior Advisor for Global Affairs, where she provided leadership for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives in internationalization and global engagement. She was also an Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Development. She founded OSU’s Humanitarian Engineering Program, and was named the Richard and Gretchen Evans Professor of Humanitarian Engineering.

She believes deeply in the value of interdisciplinary education and research, and using engineering and technology for positive social impact. She has extensive international research and teaching experience in the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Thailand. Recent awards include an Erskine Fellowship at the University of Canterbury (New Zealand), OSU College of Engineering’s Faculty Mentoring Award, the American Society of Mechanical Engineering’s Edwin F. Church Medal, and OSU’s International Service Award.  She was also a recipient of the Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship in 1998, and was an American Association for the Advancement of Science/American Institute of Physics Congressional Science Fellow in the U.S. Senate in 2001. 

Dr. Sharp received her Ph.D. and B.S. degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Master’s degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of California-Berkeley. 

Meet our host: Lynne Foley, OAM

An exciting motivational speaker, Lynne Foley, OAM, is passionate about leaving her audience with new ideas, thoughts and challenges and full of confidence to break through personal and professional barriers. She works professionally by facilitating leadership programs for individuals and organizations whose mission is to empower women and men through personal and leadership development. Lynne is an accredited and highly respected executive coach, speaker, consultant and educator, gaining her experience through successful executive leadership, consulting, board chair and director roles. As chairman of the 2020-2022 Zonta International Leadership Development Committee Lynne implements the organization’s global strategy to meet the leadership needs of members, clubs and districts  facilitates at conferences and workshops.
